What is extended reality (XR)?
What is extended reality (XR)?
integrated reality (XR) is a concept that brings together all immersive technologies. It is a combination of human-machine interaction with the real and virtual world. Extended reality covers all of the immersive technologies we have today, such as Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality (MR). In other words, XR is a concept that combines three types of reality (AR, VR, MR).
Extended reality, or XR, is a relatively new development in most environments. It combines physical and virtual worlds or creates a completely immersive experience for the user. It is computer generated and exported to media. In order to better understand extended reality (XR) technology, AR, VR and MR technologies need to be well known.
Augmented reality (AR)
Augmented reality is the result of the interaction of created sensory elements with the physical world by enriching them in real time. It is a type of experience that is formed by combining the physical elements that we perceive around us with computer-generated data such as graphics, video, audio, GPS, and enriches the current reality. In other words, it is a reality in which the real and the Virtual are not completely separated from each other, but rather become more intertwined.
Virtual Reality (VR)
Virtual reality is the creation of image, hologram, sound, position and similar sensory elements as an imitation of the real world. It is a technology in which users will feel in a different place than the environment in which they are located, in addition, they will experience a different environment in 3-D. Virtual reality environments usually consist of visual experiences acquired through a computer screen.
Mixed Reality (MR)
Mixed reality is the result of blending the physical world with the digital world. It is the next evolution in human, computer and environmental interaction in mixed reality, revealing possibilities that have hitherto been limited by our imagination. Digital and real world objects are together. These objects can interact with each other in real time. An MR headset requires much more processing power than VR or AR. Microsoft's HoloLens is a great example that allows you to place digital objects in the current environment and interact with the digital object as much as possible.XR
Extended reality includes augmented reality, virtual reality and Mixed Reality (Mr) technologies. There are many sectors where XR potential is seen in the coming years. Some of them:
XR is a technology that brings immersive experiences to the entertainment world and gives consumers the opportunity to experience live music and sports events virtually in the comfort of VR headsets. While the majority of Sunday share is heavily tilted toward entertainment, it's not the only one that provides a virtual expansion.
Technologies like VR, AR, MR and XR open up new ways for brands to interact with consumers, offering immersive ways to interact with new products. In this way, it allows a new era to begin in the marketing sector.
Expanded reality opens up new avenues for education and training. People working in high-risk conditions, such as chemists and pilots, can receive training in safety from a more traditional classroom environment. Meanwhile, medical students can practice hands-on on virtual patients.
While the real estate industry can streamline the leasing process by allowing potential tenants to view properties virtual, architects and interior designers can leverage XR technology to bring their designs to life.
XR allows customers to experiment before purchasing. Watch maker Rolex has an AR app that lets you try watches on your real wrist. In the same way, IKEA offers customers the ability to place their furniture in their homes with their smartphones.
6. Remote operation
XR eliminates remote barriers, allowing remote employees to seamlessly access data from anywhere in the world.
